And, while that was scary to me in the formative years of my gay journey, I now embrace the uniqueness within the LGBTQ+ community. I think what’s important about Pride month and its associated events is that they offer folks in the community an opportunity to connect with those whom they may not encounter in their day-to-day lives - individuals with different perspectives and experiences. I certainly grew up in a world that was more accepting than those who came before me, however, I still struggled in my own ways.
The path toward accepting and embracing my sexuality has been a winding one, so naturally, my relationship with Pride has changed over the years.
